Since Hurricane Katrina we have been providing relief work to the Gulf region. Charla and I have teamed up with several of our friends to plan relief trips and transport donations to needed areas. UPDATES May 3, 2006 Read about the success of our April Pearlington trip. Article March 26, 2006 The trip to Pearlington went great. We had 3 24ft truckloads of donations and I handed out 80 shoe boxes. We had a turnout of 400+ people. Click Here for pictures. March 3, 2006 I have met and talked with people from Destin and Alex City about a relief project idea for kids. The idea is called ShoeboxKids. This will let kids prepare shoeboxes with items we will deliver to kids effected by Hurricane Katrina. February 11, 2006 I met with Mission Love Seeds, Inc about what is needed for their mission. I am helping them put together a presentation for organizations who are interested in donating. January 17, 2006 I took a three day trip to the Alabama and Mississippi gulf coast region. The trip was mainly to document and check on areas I had visited before. For an article about the trip visit the eBlog. Oct 21, 2005 Rice delivered to Bayou La Batre. We delivered about 4500lbs to the Laotian temple in Irvington just north of Bayou La Batre. Complete Story Oct 20, 2005 We’ll be heading to distribute rice in Bayou La Batre tommorrow. We ordered nearly 4000lbs of rice that we will be taking over. Oct 17, 2005 RICE! We have 2150lbs of rice ordered for distribution. Deadline is Thursday Oct 20 if you would like to contribute. Rice is $11 / 50lb. Oct 7, 2005 Thanks to Matt and Susan from Mulhollow’s Bistro 215 in Ft Walton for donating Rice, Fish Sauce and noodles. When in Ft. Walton eat at Mulhollow’s! We also have someone who is donating 1000 bottles of fish sauce from Atlanta! I have a price for 50lb bags of rice – $11. Let me know if you are interested.Oct 6, 2005 I have been in the Bayou La Batre area and found several Asian communities who have special needs such as Asian food. I am working to get distribution of bulk rice, noodles and other Asian food out of Destin. I will add this to the Items Needed list but if you would like to contribute to purchasing these items contact me.Oct 5, 2005 We are planning another trip within the next week or so. View Images here Sept 12, 2005 The weekend of September 11th I returned to Biloxi, MS. A friend of mine called me and was headed there to do relief work. She had a friend who’s parents lived in Biloxi. So Charla and I packed up and headed to Biloxi. Here is the Photo Essay from that trip. Sept 4, 2005 On Sept 2nd and 3rd I traveled west from Destin along the gulf coast to document the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. My trip led me through Bayou La Batre, Pascagoula and eventually into Biloxi, MS. Along the way I met many people. I documented the trip with a Photo Essay.
